Perfect timing

At certain times of day the dosha’s are predominant in the environment and as with everything in Ayurveda what is occurring in nature has a direct impact on us.

Kapha time is between 6am and 10am, Kapha comprises of water and earth and is grounding and nourishing, it is best to wake close to the start to Kapha time to ensure that you have more energy throughout the day especially those that have Kapha prakriti as they will have more heaviness naturally. Kapha time also repeats again between 6pm and 10pm, if wishing to lose weight it is best to eat before this time as again this is the time that there is more heaviness in the environment.

Pitta time is between 10am and 2pm, Pitta comprises of fire and a little water and is responsible for digestion and temperature regulation. It is recommended to eat our main meal of the day between these times as it is when our digestion is at it’s peak. Again it repeats between 10pm and 2pm when the pitta related organs are working to breakdown food.

Vata time is between 2pm and 6pm, Vata comprises of space and air and is responsible for all movement. Grounding yoga is beneficial later in the day for those with vata prakriti as it will help to keep them grounded. Again it repeats between 2am and 6am which is why some people may experience insomnia at these times when the mind can become active.

Being aware of when the dosha’s dominate in nature will help you to balance your day, this also depends on your own prakriti (the constitution you were born with).
